NCIS: New Orleans renewed for season 5 by CBS, per reports
Per some information made available over at Production Weekly, it appears as though the network has set in motion plans to commence filming the fifth season later this year. While this is not 100% confirmed as of yet, typically productions do not start to plan ahead unless there’s the utmost confidence that they are coming back for more.
Almost from the get-go this season NCIS: New Orleans had a lot to be confident about given that there was never really too much doubt in the show’s long-term future. In terms of live+same-day ratings alone season 4 is averaging a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic; while that in itself may not be an indicator of a ratings smash, it is comparable to most of CBS’ other 10:00 p.m. shows and ahead of some others such as Scorpion and Madam Secretary.
What is potentially even more impressive for Shadowhunters at present is precisely how it is faring when it comes to total viewers. This is a series averaging close to 9 million people watching weekly, and that is ballooned outward with streaming data and DVR ratings thrown out there. Add all of this to international viewing and it’s pretty darn clear, at least at the moment, that his is not a show going anywhere in the near future. It has a chance to have a long TV life, provided of course the exit of Grant doesn’t hurt the ratings too much.
