STAR season 2 episode 12 spoilers: Quavo set to guest star!

STAR cast

Coming up on STAR season 2 episode 12, you be prepared to see a little bit of drama break out — and from a surprising source, no less! Rapper Quavo is getting set to guest star in this episode as himself, but this will be a modified version of himself that has a beef with a fictional character. This is a fun little twist to the show and may be a surprising acting challenge for someone like Quavo. How do you play yourself as though you are fighting with someone, even if you have no real beef with that person at all? This should be fun to see, to go along with of course the high number of other things that STAR has going on. This is a show that relishes the opportunity to throw a bunch of story at you and put you through the wringer — you’ll celebrate certain moments and feel pain within others.

We do like to think that the synopsis below for next week’s episode (entitled “Dreamers”) gives you a good sense as to what’s coming:

Rapper Quavo is recruited to join Midtown Sound, which causes drama with Noah, who is still harboring ill feelings towards him from their past. Meanwhile, secrets about Angel’s family are revealed when his mother, Paola (guest star Alani “La La” Anthony) returns. Then, Arlene’s twin sister, Charlene (guest star Nealla Gordon), visits Atlanta to learn the truth about her sister’s death, and Star has a revelation about her mother’s final days in the all-new “Dreamers” episode of STAR airing Wednesday, April 11 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

What’s the state of the latest ratings?

This is one of the sort of things that we do like to do here and there, mostly because we do want to see the show last as long as it possibly can on the air.

For now, the news that we have to report is positive! STAR measured out to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic for its midseason premiere, which just so happened to also be the best rating that we’ve seen for the series since early October. It makes sense for Fox to keep Empire and STAR together moving into next year, provided of course that they don’t choose to shake something up with 911. (If we personally had it our way, the scheduling suggestion that we would offer would be to pair 911 up with Lethal Weapon, effectively creating a one-two punch of police dramas while keeping the Wednesday lineup more or less the same.)

There should be more known about all of this good stuff when we get around to Fox and their big upfront presentation this May. As soon as there is more news to share, we’ll have some of it here at the site.
