Criminal Minds season 13 episode 19 sneak peek: Simmons gets bad news
If you’ve been following along here at CarterMatt, then you likely know a thing or two already about what is coming in this episode. There is going to be a hostage situation unfolding on the fourth floor of a nearby building, and almost immediately after that the BAU is going to be called in to deal with the crisis. Where things get a little more challenging and emotional for Matt is when he ends up learning precisely where this building is. It just so happens to be the place where his wife Kristy just started working at. (Remember Kristy? You’ve seen her briefly on this show but also on Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders back when the spin-off was on the air. She’s a big part of who Matt is.)
In the sneak peek below, you can see some of the aftermath to Matt realizing that his wife was in danger. You also learn that none of the other agents knew about her new job; with that, they don’t quite realize that they are delivering news that is anywhere near as devastating as it is. This episode is going to be in part about Matt trying to pick up some of the pieces while also figuring out how to save the day — if he even can. This is going to be a very different mission for him and, to make matters worse, we don’t know the profile of the people holding everyone hostage at the moment. There are some more details that will have to come out during the episode.

We can only hope that by the end of the hour that Kristy will be okay, and that Simmons takes even more stock in the importance of his job. We don’t think that it is ever really lost on him, but at the same time we understand how, in the sea of going out and saving the day time and time again, the job can feel a little more routine. It’s a little bit different when it impacts you personally and we’ve got a feeling that this is going to be a powerhouse performance from Daniel Henney like no other.
