Homeland season 7 episode 9 preview: Carrie’s problems hit home

Homeland season 7 episode 9

There are a few interesting things about Homeland season 7 episode 9 on the surface and one of the simplest ones is this: The episode title of “Useful Idiot.” For a show that is often so pointed and serious, this is really just about as silly a title for an episode as someone can possibly ask for.

Yet, maybe you could say that there is a tangible connection between this and whatever is happening within this series and in Washington in general — regardless of your political affiliation, the odds are pretty high these days that you are going to run into someone who is both incredibly smart on paper and then completely incompetent when you get them out into situations that matter. Or, maybe it’s the reverse of that. Either way, these people do exist and the show could be referencing that … provided that this is meant to be anywhere near this deep at all.

The Homeland season 7 episode 9 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below does offer up a little bit more insight surrounding what is coming up on the show next:

Carrie has problems at home. Saul and Wellington work on Paley.

Carrie’s home struggles have been set up this season already, most notably when it comes to the possibility that she could end up losing custody of Franny. We know that she cares about her daughter, but she does continue to have this oh-so-bad habit of putting herself into situations where she really cannot do much to help her. She gets in so deep to some of her various investigations that she keeps her eye off of the prize … or at least in part.
