Four reasons for CBS to issue Scorpion season 5 renewal
Is a Scorpion season 5 renewal going to happen at CBS? As of right now, we consider the show to be firmly on the bubble, but we remain hopeful. Even though the ratings are down by a hefty margin over season 4, there are also reasons to think that it could come back for at least one more go-around.
As a matter of fact, CarterMatt has listed four of the biggest reasons to give the Elyes Gabel series another shot below!
1. Syndication – This has to be the biggest one. It’s at this point in a show’s run that it should start to become a little more profitable. On paper, Scorpion should have what it takes to make a ton of money in this format. It’s highly procedural and, in between Robert Patrick and Katharine McPhee, features many performers familiar to mainstream America. Syndication previously lifted shows like The Big Bang Theory and NCIS, so why not have it happen here?
2. Story possibilities – There’s just not a whole lot of time left this season to take on some of the big subjects that are out there, whether it be Florence and Sylvester’s possible relationship or whatever is going to happen with Walter and Paige. With just 22 episodes this season, this is the smallest total batch of episodes we’ve had here in quite a while.
3. A chance for unique twists – There was a musical number in the premiere this season, but why not go for a full Scorpion musical episode in season 5? Why not have some more fun in Sylvester’s comic-book realm? This is the sort of show that really could do so much more with the geeky characteristics of some of these characters and it feels like high time that they were explored a little bit more.
4. Allowing for a fitting end – If Scorpion has season 5 and it is billed as the final season in advance, we don’t think that anyone would be nearly as upset as they would be if it was canceled now. That’s one more season of new episodes and, beyond that, it’s a chance to actually give the show the sort of farewell that it deserves.
