Chicago PD season 5 episode 20 spoilers: Walls close in on Olinsky

Chicago PD season 5 episode 17

How far is Olinsky willing to go in order to protect Voight? This is a question that Chicago PD season 5 episode 20 is going to raise more so than almost any other before it. To date, we’ve seen him hesitate to budge on sharing details pertaining to Bingham’s murder, even with him being offered opportunities to turn in Hank in exchange for no consequences on his end.

This is a pretty difficult, nuanced decision for Olinsky to make. This is a man not that far away from being able to retire and having the rest of his life set for him. Yet, he’s worked with Voight for so long and the relationship that they have means something to him. There’s another layer to what may be happening in his mind: Voight telling Olinsky previously that he would fall on his own sword long before he let Olinsky take the fall for anything. This character may be waiting for that entering this episode, and then could be frustrated consequently by a moment that isn’t coming anywhere near as fast as he would like.

The Chicago PD season 5 episode 20 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below offers up some more information as to what’s coming up:

If Olinsky goes to prison for what happened to Bingham, maybe Voight continues to do his job leading Intelligence. Yet, will he ever be able to live with himself in the process? We have a hard time believing that he’d be okay with that. Voight may not always be the most ethical person under the sun, but there is a certain moral code he tends to follow. We’ll get a chance to see near the end of the season whether he follows it or breaks it.
