Siren series premiere ratings solid for Freeform
While it is certainly far too early at the moment to know whether or a not a season 2 renewal is coming, CarterMatt can say this with confidence: The Siren series premiere ratings are looking solid over at Freeform. While we’ve certainly seen larger premieres, at the same time these figures are ahead of some of other series that the network has put on the air as of late.
The two hours on Thursday night averaged in total a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and, to go along with that, over 870,000 total viewers. These numbers surpass many other Freeform series so far this year, including some long loved shows like The Fosters and Shadowhunters. If Siren stays around here for the remainder of the season it’s all but guaranteed to get a season 2 renewal. Freeform is a network that has struggled to launch original series with enormous numbers. While both Famous in Love and The Bold Type were renewed this past year, at the same time neither one of them drew these sort of numbers consistently. Siren is obviously going to add to this performance, as well, in both DVR ratings and also streams after the fact.
Here’s some other good news: Siren tied Atlanta and others as the top-rated scripted cable show on the night Thursday.
What struggles remain?
The biggest one is mostly just retention. It’s great that Siren got off to a great start and that most viewers who watched the first episode also checked out the second. The question now is if these same viewers will watch the third and the fourth. This is where the rubber will really meet the road when it comes to this series and its long-term future. If you loved the premiere, our suggestion is pretty simple: Keep watching it live! Also, be sure to tell your friends about it and continue to live-tweet and drive social traffic to it.
