Grey’s Anatomy season 4 episode 18: Amelia’s challenge; Richard’s personal story
For starters, this installment entitled “Hold Back the River” is going to put her in a position where she has to perform a very difficult procedure in order to remove a brain tumor — anytime that she is put into situations like this we worry that it is going to bring her back to what happened with her. Beyond just that, there’s always an extra layer of potential drama anytime that you do end up throwing Koracick into the mix. The two have a complicated history for starters, and beyond that there’s always a chance that you are going to see these two clash when put into this same sort of situation together. You are, after all, focusing here on characters who each carry with them both some really big egos and also opinions for how get the job done.
The Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 18 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below gives you a better sense as to what is going to be coming up over the course of the hour:
Amelia, Koracick and DeLuca perform a risky, groundbreaking procedure using ultrasound waves to remove a young patient’s brain tumor. Meanwhile, Meredith and Jo work with different polymers to try to salvage their project submission; and Richard’s AA sponsor is admitted to Grey Sloan with a DNR.
Beyond the Amelia story…
Is this going to be the sort of conflict with Richard that ends up landing him in a certain degree of jeopardy, at least with his sobriety? Seeing his sponsor, someone who helped him for so long avoid potential peril, in such a position could end up leading to a wide array of complicated emotions. It’s yet another thing that he is going to have to work through alongside the typical rigor of this job.
