Gotham season 4 episode 17 preview: Gordon, Bullock take on Jerome

For anyone out there starting to look ahead in regards to Gotham season 4 episode 17, there are a few different things worth noting — most notably that Jerome seems to be at the heart of the story once more. He’s on a rampage in a desperate attempt to cause some chaos, which puts Gordon and Bullock through hell as they race to find him. This is quite difficult as it is, but it is even more difficult when you start to think about just how stretched thin much of the GCPD is. There are problems with the Narrows, there is your typical Gotham crime, and to make matters worse you have Penguin back out on the street.

Gordon and Bullock try to stay one step ahead as Jerome (guest star Cameron Monaghan) zeros in on his next target. Meanwhile, Nygma hosts a riddle game show in the Narrows and faces his toughest challenger in Lee Thompkins, and Penguin goes to see Butch with a proposal in the all-new “A Dark Knight: Mandatory Brunch Meeting” episode of GOTHAM airing Thursday, April 5 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

Nygma’s game show could, upon reflection, be the best part of this entire episode — but it’s also the most high-risk. You need to really nail the Riddler aspects of this character and have it be dangerous without it being entirely hokey. He and Lee could eventually find themselves immersed in a power struggle for the Narrows, which is especially sad given that there was a time when they were on the same page and working together successfully. It wasn’t exactly easy, but they were nonetheless finding a way in order to make it happen.

This episode probably isn’t going to be one that wraps up the story for any of these characters; yet, it could offer up more opportunities to build momentum than almost any other installment we’ve seen to date.
