Timothy Olyphant doubtful of Deadwood movie’s chances
In a new interview on Watch What Happens Live!, Timothy Olyphant (who is currently in the process of promoting the second season of Santa Clarita Diet alongside Drew Barrymore) made it abundantly clear just how he is feeling when it comes to the movie’s actual prospects of happening:
“I am hopeful … I’m a huge fan of David Milch. The man means the world to me. It’s one of the most amazing creative experiences I’ve ever been able to be apart of, and I’d love to be [a part of it] … you know when you do these things you really miss the people. It would just be a lovely excuse to get all those people back together … That being said, there’s no f–king way it’s ever going to happen.”
Olyphant admitted in this interview that he is also a cynic, and with that we’re not going to take his statement altogether as a for-sure fact. The biggest issue with a potential Deadwood movie is almost exactly what you would expect for it to be: Trying to get the cast all together again. That is not a particularly easy thing to do just because they all have different jobs now working on other shows! Presumably, the movie could go into production later this year — there is already a script for the project, so really it is all a matter now of finding a way to secure all of the same people at the same time in the same place.
You can watch a little bit more of Olyphant’s interview below; Santa Clarita Diet season 2 is now officially streaming so you can check out some of those episodes right now. We’ll offer up some more opportunities about the show as soon as we’ve got them.
