MasterChef Junior interview: Ben Watkins talks team challenge, future hopes
Following the exit, we did have a chance to ask Ben a few different questions about what he enjoyed about the show, where he wants to take his career from here, his love of tie dye, and more. Take a look below!
CarterMatt – What made you excited to be a part of MasterChef Junior?
Ben Watkins – I really like cooking and to have the opportunity to meet Chef Gordon Ramsey and display my cooking skills on national TV was an exciting thought.
One of the most noticeable characteristics about you on the show was your love of tie-dye clothing. Where does that come from?
I like tie dye and my mom used to make tie dye clothing all the time. I felt like tie dye would make me more noticeable.
How difficult was the outdoor team challenge to be a part of? What did you enjoy about it the most?
I’m used to working in the kitchen alone or with a family member where I’m normally the boss, I’m not used to working in a team so that made it difficult for me. Working outside on the farm knowing that we were cooking for someone’s special day was what I enjoyed most about the outdoor challenge.
What would you say was your favorite part of the season overall?
Seeing the judges faces when they tasted my peach cobbler.
After doing the show, what do you want to do in food next?
I want to continue my interest in food, grow my instagram @juniorchefben, and start a YouTube channel someday.
