Star season 2 midseason premiere: Who died?
Unfortunately, this is an answer that is going to devastate many fans of the Fox series — after all, Imani Lewis is seemingly leaving the show due to the death of Karen. We had a feeling that someone was going to die in that fire, and it just so happened to be one of the most important people to Simone. This is going to be a long, devastating recovery process for her and it will take a great deal of time for her to bounce back from some of this.
Of course, the death of Karen probably won’t be something that is fully fleshed-out for some time largely because of the time jump and also the fact that Simone is not the sort of character who plays all of her emotional cards. She’s someone who has been through a lot and that keeps her from being able to trust and open up to others.

As for STAR, killing off Karen at this particular point in the story it does allow the show to ultimately achieve what is its desired effect — figuring out a way in which for them to give fans that feeling of “nobody’s safe” while also allowing some of the longtime series regulars from both seasons to stick around. This could also be a big narrative driving force for the Simone character moving forward and with a show like this, it is of the utmost importance that you do continue to find ways to surprise with some of your characters. Otherwise, you run the risk of stories getting lost and characters feeling as though they are not anywhere near as interesting anymore.
