In terms of the story, really the only thing that is known about the finale is this: The title is “Leaving Storybrooke” and over the course of it you will see many returning favorites. Sean Maguire, Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas, Emilie de Ravin, and many other familiar faces will be back one final time to celebrate the show, Storybrooke, and its legacy. We are sure that there will be a little bit of drama but there’s also going to be (hopefully) a fitting conclusion that makes us smile. This is a show largely based on said smiles and providing happy endings for many of its characters. The goal here is not to cultivate something that makes you think people are incapable of love or are, for whatever reason, doomed to just incur one setback after the next.

For Emma in particular, our hope is to get a sense in the finale of what her life is like now with Hook coupled with what it could be in the future — maybe give us a glimpse into where this fairy-tale world is a couple of decades from now. The Once Upon a Time timeline itself is a little all over the place, so it’s probably best to condense this in a way that is simple but also emotional.
