Chicago Med season 3 episode 13 review: Can Will, Natalie overcome this fight?

Chicago Med season 3 episode 13

Chicago Med season 3 episode 13 was by far the most intense episode of the entire season from a medical standpoint, but the same also goes for the interactions between the characters.

For Will and Natalie, we feel as though we’re experiencing the first major fight of their relationship — it’s over work, but it’s so serious that it could end up devastating the relationship at home. It stemmed tonight from a mother who seemed desperate to eventually let her son die, but due to the complicated state of his condition could not find the right way in which for it to happen. As soon as Will realized what was really gone on he decided that he wanted to call the police on the family; yet, Natalie didn’t want to, and she became even more enraged when she heard that Will let his patient (who was a pedophile who hated that about himself) effectively die last week. In his mind there was a clear distinction; yet, that wasn’t the same for her.

The patient this week died in the end, but we don’t exactly think that this struggle between the two is anywhere close to being over.

Some of these said struggles also existed elsewhere in this episode, including for Connor and Ava as the two worked through what was their biggest conflict to date. They wrestled back and forth over who had the opportunity to treat someone in need of a heart transplant. Both of these one-time lovers did what they could in order to get their patients to the front of the line; eventually, Connor succeeded that that ended up enraged Dr. Bekker. The crisis between the two could lead to further problems, largely because Ava’s patient is still in need of another heart and we don’t see any of the problems the two having being the sort that will go away in time.

There were other relationship conflicts within the episode of a different sort, as Dr. Charles found a way to get through to Dr. Reese without actually telling her about her father’s diagnosis. He did still do enough in order to ensure that she was aware of some of his possible symptoms; with that, she now realizes that he is trying to manipulate her and she can put a stop to it.

On a lighter note, we got to see Ethan and April go dancing at a party for her niece! Beyond that, is there something that is going to happen between Noah and Ethan’s sister? Is this the end of Noah and Sarah? SO MANY QUESTIONS.

CarterMatt Verdict

In general, we would consider Chicago Med season 3 episode 13 as one of the most eventful of the season, and also one that proves further that that there are still interesting relationship conflicts to be explored even within a fairly confined place like this.
