The Terror episode 3 preview: Crozier’s dilemma; fear runs rampant

What is coming up on The Terror episode 3? This series is off to a great start with a couple of beautifully crafted episodes. Yet, there is so much more to come — especially since the majority of the crews are not really aware as to just how much danger they are actually in. They are still stuck on their goals of exploration, imperialism, and claiming the northwest passage as their own. It is obvious that the end goal here is clear: For Sir John and the crew to receive glory, fame, and compensation for their efforts. The northwest passage is a game-changer. Yet, it may also be a myth when it comes to figuring out how to do it without a massive loss of life … even without some monster lurking in and around the ice.

With the “thing on the ice” now stalking the ships, Captain Francis Crozier tries to convince Sir John to send out a rescue party to attempt to alert the world of their situation, pitting Crozier’s loyalty to his commander against his duty to his crew.

This is the point where Crozier seems to be on a knife’s edge, unsure as to precisely what he should be doing when it comes to this situation. Warning the outside world is one thing, but is anyone really going to be there in time to actually do something about it? That seems to be a good question. Safety should be a priority, but we’ve got this sinking feeling that some people (i.e. Sir John) will probably not listen and send his teams into further chaos.
