Law & Order: SVU season 19 episode 18: The purpose of ‘Service’

When we first learned the title of Law & Order: SVU season 19 episode 18 in “Service,” at the time we speculated that it could have many different meanings. Now that we’re starting to understand the installment (apparently set to air on April 11) further, there are a couple of different ways in which you are meant to take this.

For starters, “Service” will be an episode of the show with a military theme. You can see some element of that in the photo above; over the course of the episode, many different men and women in uniform could be presented. NBC has yet to reveal an official synopsis for the hour as of yet, but most signs at present seem to be suggesting that either a suspect or person of interest is tied to the military in some way.

Beyond all of this, we also have “Service” within the context of an escort service. An escort’s rape at a rundown motel becomes the jumping-off point for the investigation within this episode. Below, you can see the first photo of Wayne Knight of Seinfeld fame as the honor of this said establishment. Over this episode we are hopefully going to get a better understanding of what happened here and we have to think that Knight’s involvement is going to be more than just a single scene. After all, why cast an actor of his caliber only to use him briefly? That doesn’t make too much sense.

Overall, the whole purpose of “Service” looks to be asking the important questions and making sure the rights of everyone, no matter their job or what they do for the country, are respected in equal measure. As viewers, the central struggle at the moment seems to be simply waiting around for it to air.
