Chicago Fire season 6 episode 17 preview: Why Severide’s mom stops by

Chicago Fire season 6 episode 17 is going to be coming your way on April 5, and based on everything that we’ve come to know about the series over time one thing is clear: They are not letting off the gas. The show could still be recovering Otis’ injury on this past episode — while it does seem as though he is going to survive, it doesn’t quite appear that the character is going to be doing anywhere near the same stuff that he once was for at least the immediate future.

04/05/2018 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Thursday) : Boden has a lapse in judgment in the aftermath of rescuing a young boy. Kidd struggles to win the approval of Severide’s mom (guest star Kim Delaney) after a surprise visit and Otis takes on new responsibilities at the firehouse.

The chance to see Severide’s mother is absolutely something that is welcome, especially since we’ve come to know so much about this character over time and this is a chance to really explore a new dimension for him. That is especially true now that he and Stella are exploring things romantically once more. It’s certainly clear to us at the moment that there are feelings that exist between these two characters, just as it is that Stella may be the perfect person for Kelly who understands him and supports him in a way few others do. Just take how insistent she was for him to go see the hospital wing dedication in Springfield in Anna’s honor — she understands the feelings that Severide has for her and doesn’t feel threatened by her memory or anything else.

We know that there are two separate appearances coming for Delaney on Chicago Fire over the remainder of this season at least, so know that even if you don’t get to see everything you want from Severide’s mom there are still going to be opportunities to do so.
