How do Shadowhunters season 3 premiere ratings stack up?
For these articles, we are focusing mostly on live+same-day viewing figures. What this means basically is the totally number of American viewers who are, on estimate, watching the show either live or that same day via their DVR. This is the basic measurement for TV ratings and the best one for any show wanting to stick around for a while. It ensures the greatest likelihood that viewers are checking out the show and also seeing the commercials. While going through ads may be somewhat of a pain in the butt, remember this — they keep your favorite shows alive. If you are watching the show somewhere without seeing any commercials, that is not always ideal when it comes to keeping a show on the air.
So how did the Shadowhunters season 3 premiere fare overall? Think in terms overall of a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic to go along with 490,000 viewers. This viewership is somewhat on the lower end of what we saw for the series during its second season, but we do think that overall it marks an okay start. It just needs to maintain this rating for the entire season — we’ve said in the past that as long as Shadowhunters averages a 0.2 rating, that puts it on par with many other Freeform shows. It has a huge international following and also is watched/streamed by many after the fact, so its live numbers on their own are somewhat misleading. That’s often the case now with series catered to a young audience.
