The Good Doctor finale video: Will Shaun accept Dr. Glassman’s diagnosis?

When it comes to The Good Doctor finale Monday night, you better be prepared to get as many different boxes of tissues as possible.

Why? It all stems back to the fateful diagnosis of Dr. Aaron Glassman on this past episode — he has cancer, and he is now in a desperate position where he really needs to fight for every last second of his life. With that being said, Glassman is not the sort of person to completely ignore science — by the time of the new sneak peek below (via Entertainment Weekly), enough time has passed to where Richard Schiff’s character has already received a number of tests that all seem to confirm his tumor. Yet, Shaun isn’t exactly buying it mostly because he doesn’t want to buy it. He doesn’t want to face what his mentor is going through and we get that.

The biggest thing that stands out about this sneak peek pretty much immediately are the performances of Freddie Highmore and Schiff. They are nothing short of outstanding as they each try to process the pain of what Glassman is going through in their own way. Shaun doesn’t want to accept things and at this point, Glassman wants to do little other than have fun.

We wonder if this episode (entitled “More”) is going to eventually lead into some sort of montage of the two parties having a good time — think in terms of what we saw with Lea and Shaun a little bit earlier on in the season. (Speaking of which, wouldn’t it be nice if we got to see Lea again at some point by the end of the finale? We certainly think so.)

By the end of this episode, we have a feeling that there could be some sort of cliffhanger based on where some of the stories are at present. It’s really hard to imagine that something like Glassman’s diagnosis is going to be a story that completely wraps up in the finale, especially when there is so much story still to tell.
