Chicago Fire season 6 episode 16 preview: Aftermath of the shooting

Moving into Chicago Fire season 6 episode 16, there are a few different things that you can expect to see — but the shadow of everything that happened within the two-hour episode is going to be hanging over much of it. Everyone will still be recovering from the aftermath of the shooting and beyond that, there’s also going to be a new face in the firehouse. Over the years, we’ve certainly come to know that new people within Firehouse 51 can be somewhat of a mixed bag. Sometimes good things can come from it, but on other occasions we’ve certainly seen the obvious.

Below, the Chicago Fire season 6 episode 16 synopsis offers up a little bit more insight into just what is coming up next:

03/29/2018 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Thursday) : Herrmann (David Eigenberg), along with members of house 51, struggle to come to terms with an injury to one of their own, and then must deal with the new temporary replacement (guest star Damon Dayoub). Boden (Eamonn Walker) ponders some interesting news while Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) has a hard time keeping a secret. Brian Tee, Melissa Ponzio and Gary Cole guest star.

By the end of this episode we absolutely do imagine that we’ll get a better read on who this new firefighter is — we spoke about this recently to showrunner Derek Haas, and he made it clear that the series is going to do its best to take advantage of Dayoub’s imposing size to create a character for the show who is somewhat different than anyone who has been on the series before. We know that from our vantage point there is some excitement that comes along with that. It’s always good to see someone different but, at the same time, we don’t want it to come at the expense of losing someone else for some extended period of time.

No matter what happens, this new firefighter in particular is probably going to have a tough time winning over everyone out there who already loves some of the established characters. It’s the same thing we’ve seen with many arrivals to Firehouse 51 over the years.
