911 season 1 finale: Should Abby return?
In the closing minutes of the episode, Connie Britton’s character chose to depart — is it for good, or is she just going to get some much-needed time to rest and relax? That’s a very good question but one that we also don’t have a precise answer to at the moment. Why? The ball is in Britton’s court as to whether or not she wants to return and the end of the season 1 finale was written with that in mind and for no other reason.
Here’s what is going on behind the scenes — as show executive producer Ryan Murphy said in interviews this week, Britton originally signed on to do one season of the series mostly as a favor to him. (The two worked together previously on American Horror Story and The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story.) At the time in which she did sign on, there was no explicit word as to whether or not this show would be a big hit. Since that time it’s become a smash hit for Fox and one of their most-popular shows. If Britton wants to be a part of a big show, she’ll stick around here — personally, we think that she will given that there are few producers out there who are better to work with than Britton.
We just hope that over the course of the next month or two that we get some answers on this subject — we do think that there are good cliffhangers that should leave you wondering as to the future of the story; however, this is a little bit differet given that we are talking exclusively about the future of a character for reasons that don’t have to do with the story.
