TV Madness 2018: Poldark, Chicago PD face off in new round 2 battle
Above, you can see our full bracket, complete with entries, their seeds, and start/end dates. Once you are within the bracket, the dates listed are when the previous poll ends and the next one begins! We’ve got a great group of shows taking part this year, with some newbies as well as others who have been a part of the tournament every single year. The voting rules are pretty simple — you can vote however often you would like on however many devices that you would like! If you are on mobile and you are having a problem seeing the poll at the bottom of the article for whatever reason, be sure to click to view the non-AMP version of the page at the bottom of the article.
For this round 2 battle, we have a pair of popular shows coming off of solid victories in the first round. One of them in Poldark is a British period drama with an enormous fan following; meanwhile, the other in Chicago PD has a devoted crowd of its own here in United States. Only one of them is going to advance to the third round, but we’re expecting this to be a pretty close face-off after seeing each show’s respective performance in round 1.
Now that we’ve set the stage, let’s get to breaking down these entries further. Voting for this round remains open until Saturday, March 24 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time.
Poldark (#1 seed) – It’s not all that much of a surprise to see it moving onto the next round here. This is a show that made it all the way to the final four last year, hence the reason for it being a #1 seed this time. It’s the sort of show that brings a universal appeal — even though it may be a historical drama set centuries ago in Cornwall, it still has themes of heartbreak and determination that are relevant now. Will Ross and company make it as far this year?
Chicago PD (#4 seed) – Despite them being almost evenly-matched when it comes to seeding, Chicago PD made pretty short work of Supergirl on its way to the second round this year. The second round is where Chicago PD fell in 2017, where it went down to underdog contender Black Sails, a show that went all the way from the play-in round to the final four. What is going to happen this year? Chicago PD is the underdog here for the first time in TV Madness in quite some time; we’ll see if it brings with it a fantastic comeback spirit.
