Outlander notes: Odds and ends from a busy few days

Outlander notes

Today’s CarterMatt Outlander notes touches on a few different subjects, but let’s start here with what is set to happen this week: Work on what may be a new episode.

Last night, we reported on the show getting set to film the meeting between Jamie and Brianna, and judging from the fact that Sam Heughan recently received a script, that tends to happen leading up to the table read and then the scene itself being filmed. There hasn’t been too much chatter as to public filming as of late, which means that production may be keeping things hush-hush on that front for obvious reasons. While this may be a pretty well-known moment from the books, obviously nobody wants the show’s interpretation of the scene itself to get out until Outlander premieres on Starz a little bit later this year.

The best thing we can hope for are some other updates along the way.

Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe’s recent Facebook interviews

The two actors recently each sat down for interviews with the Los Angeles Times on Facebook that cover a wide array of different topics. They’re both rather long, but if you have the time this week you may appreciate some of their discussions regarding the series, filming, the passion of the fanbase, and a number of other topics. These interviews were done following the recent panel discussion for the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences this weekend. Given that there may not be too many more opportunities to see interviews with them for the remainder of filming, hopefully these videos do their part to tide you over for the time being.

Finally, the latest CarterMatt outlander video

Last night we recorded our own video roundup of some of the events from this past weekend, including the Emmy panel and whether or not such events are actually beneficial in boosting a show’s Emmy odds. The short version that we’ll offer here (in text form) is that it’s hard to really quantify how many attendees were on the fence about Outlander, especially since many in the audience seemed to already be fans. Nonetheless, any positive press and face-time with the cast and crew has to be a good thing. (Subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube for more updates.)
