Much of Stranger Things 3 cast reportedly receives much-deserved raise

Stranger Things 3 cast

Prior to the start of Stranger Things 3 premiering on Netflix presumably in 2019, it appears that a good percentage of the show’s core cast is going to make a good bit of cash.

According to a new report from Deadline, some of the show’s younger cast members including Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) and Noah Schnapp (Will) are going to see a massive increase in pay versus the first two seasons. For these batches of episodes they made around $30,000 an installment. Meanwhile, for season 3 they could make around $250,000 an episode or more. The publication notes that Brown will be the highest-paid of her young co-stars.

When it comes to the adults, meanwhile, Winona Ryder (Joyce) along with David Harbour (Hopper) are each going to make around $350,000 (or slightly more) an episode for the third season. Natalie Dyer (who plays Nancy) will receive an increase to somewhere between $100,000 and $150,000, and the same goes for Charlie Heaton. Not bad for a Netflix show that came in with a ton of fresh faces?

Is this great news? Absolutely so, given that at the time of the show’s casting the majority of the actors were relative unknowns. Now that the series has become an international phenomenon, they do deserve the right to be treated like what they are. This could help to set up some of the actors for the remainder of their careers — for many of them Stranger Things may just be a launching pad, but there is no guarantee that it will end up being this way for everyone.

The reason for the long wait between seasons is rather simple– this is a show that takes an extremely long time to film, and then because of the special effects a good bit of time in post-production.
