NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 episode 15 review: What happened to Granger?
In the closing moments of Sunday night’s new episode Granger’s daughter Jennifer Kim officially confirmed that the character had died underneath a tree on her property, looking out into what was the perfect view for her. We already knew that this character would probably die eventually, given that this was fairly clear the last time that he was on the show itself. The writers let the character at the time go out on his own terms following the death of Miguel Ferrer, but in the end, this was a moment that had to happen. It just feels right that this was the way in which it did, with Malese Jow coming back for one more appearance and for him to do something that was more under his own terms.
The case itself, which Kim was involved with, was certainly exciting; yet, it sort of fades into the background in the midst of everything that happened with the Granger reveal and also a few other things that we learned back at the office. It was an action-packed and explosive affair, though, one that lived up to some of the hype during the week of being one of the most explosive this season. The issue within that, though, was that the villains on the other side were not quite notable enough to be remembered beyond this week.
First, there was the revelation as to why Hidoko was out in Los Angeles — she lost previously a husband, and this marked an opportunity in order for her to start over while also do some of the work that she does best. Meanwhile, this episode also featured an opportunity to see Hetty working alongside Shay Mosley and there was certainly some tension there. Hetty seems to know why Mosley was brought in and what that means for the sake of the team. We just don’t understand why things needed to be as cold as they were from Mosley to Hetty — obviously, the Shay character is still harboring some pain over her own mysterious past, but the longer you wait on showing some of that the harder it is to root for the character now.

CarterMatt Verdict
The final ten minutes of this episode made this installment one for the history books. It was needed and cathartic in a way to remember Granger and Ferrer — while also introducing us to whatever the next version of the show will be.
