Doctor Who season 11: How far along is filming?
So how far along is production? We wish we could say that it is already near the end, but unfortunately, that’s not exactly the case. In a new interview with the Sunday Times discussing the show, series star Jodie Whittaker confirmed that she was still in the early going: “I’m only a few weeks in, I don’t know the answers to quite a lot of questions yet.” Even when she does, we don’t exactly think that there is going to be information handed down for quite some time.
Also in this interview there were a few other things of interest. For starters, she confirmed that her favorite Doctor is David Tennant, which makes sense given that the two parties worked together in the past on Broadchurch. Beyond that, she also described some of her experience spending time with Doctor Who fans to date:
“People have been absolutely lovely so far ,,, The other week in Cardiff I could see this little lad plucking up the courage to talk to me so I made it easier, ‘You all right, mate?’ So, I know it made his morning … People are lovely, but I am very private, which is possible as long as you stick to certain things. I still get the Tube, but I might start wearing a hat.”
We imagine that being private is all about having proper boundaries but Jodie will figure that out in time. Being the Doctor is a huge responsibility but Jodie has some wonderful references for how to handle it. Tennant, Matt Smith, and Peter Capaldi all did a great job of handling the job for many years while also avoiding too much social-media craziness and being in the public eye.
