Four reasons why a SEAL Team season 2 renewal should happen

SEAL Team premiere ratings

Should a SEAL Team season 2 renewal happen on CBS? While the network has yet to officially hand down more episodes one way or another, we remain fairly optimistic that the series is going to be coming back for another season.

Yet, for the sake of this article we are going to offer up some additional reasons for the network to make this move. Think of this article as setting up an additional incentive for the network to make the announcement — and sooner rather than later.

1. The ratings – To date, the series is averaging a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic, and as of late we’ve seen the series post anywhere from a 0.9 to a 1.1. The only exception here is an episode that aired a little bit later at 10:00 p.m. after the Survivor premiere. While it is not generating enormous ratings at present, there is room for growth over the summer and whenever the series ends up hitting streaming services.

2. The risk-taking – The arc that the show is on right now is emblematic of how SEAL Team is different than most other CBS shows. It’s being a little bit riskier and isn’t just throwing the same ideas at the wall time and time again. It’s a reflection of what some people within the military go through.

3. Star power – David Boreanaz is a more than capable leading man who brings with him fans all over the world. That had to be in CBS’ mind when they first picked the show up. This allows them to better sell the series to international markets. That should prove very helpful the longer that the series lasts.

4. Fan loyalty – This is a big one. Unless a show is drawing miserable ratings, we do think it’s important that a network give it more than one season to see if it can find some sort of consistent following. Luckily, we do think that CBS is going to be doing that with most of the dramas on their current roster — save for Wisdom of the Crowd and maybe Instinct depending on how the ratings are.
