Saturday Night Live music: Arcade Fire perform ‘Creature Comfort’
The first song that Arcade Fire performed this time was “Creature Comfort,” a song that was first released last summer. Almost everyone was dressed in various degrees of white and gold, which clearly made this one of the more eye-popping performances that the band has ever given. With that being said, some of the strobe lighting was a little bit much and we’re not sure the majority of the people out there will understand most of what the lyrics to this song were beyond just a couple of lines in the refrain.
Arcade Fire is one of those bands in general that you’re either going to love or hate. They’re fantastic to fans of their brand of music; however, everyone else is probably just going to find them strange. There’s really not a lot of middle ground here.
Overall, we will say that the “Creature Comfort” performance was striking and at least interesting — it also had a catch enough refrain that we’re sure that some people will want to check this out after the fact. Still, the strobe lighting was too much and it probably should have come with some sort of epilepsy warning beforehand.

The second performance tonight was of the song “Put Your Money on Me,” which was a driving but more intimate number despite having a pretty crowded stage. Most importantly, this was a performance we could actually pay attention to because there wasn’t a strobe messing things up in the background.
