The X-Files season 11 finale spoilers: There will be death
When The X-Files season 11 finale airs on Fox Wednesday night, there’s the potential for new mythology, big reveals on William, but also death — plenty of death. This episode could drop your jaw to the floor and leave you struggling to figure out a way in which to pick it back up.
According to a report from TVLine, there are effectively two different things to note about this episode in advance of it airing:
1. There will be a cliffhanger – This is probably going to be super-infuriating for people out there upset about the fact that Gillian Anderson is leaving at the end of this season, effectively ensuring that there aren’t going to be many more seasons of the series on the other side of it.
2. There will also be death – This is the sort of thing that should make you infuriated even after you calm down over the other teaser. It’s certainly possible that the characters who die are ancillary characters and not necessarily Mulder or Scully. Either way, this is a series that is really going out with a bang.
One of the questions that we’re wondering now and we are probably going to continue wondering for a while is pretty simple: If it was known on some level in advance that the series was going to be losing Anderson, why wouldn’t you just wrap up the story here without a cliffhanger? Or, does creator Chris Carter just think that The X-Files is the sort of show that will never really end whether or not Scully is a part of it.
