Clarissa Explains It All revival in development at Nickelodeon

Clarissa Explains It All

Apparently, Nickelodeon isn’t done with reviving old properties after Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie and the recent reports about a new Blue’s Clues.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cable network is now in talks to revive Clarissa Explains It Allone of the most-popular series of the early 1990’s and one that served as a launching pad to much of the rest of Melissa Joan Hart’s career. This is a show that really pushed things forward for Nick with live-action series and still generates a lot of nostalgia today. Hart would return to star in the revival, and much like Girl Meets World or Raven’s Home she would be a mother to a new character or characters who would serve as the leads for the show. Mitchell Kriegman, who was the creative voice behind the original series, is back in order to direct the new project, as well.

This is actually not the first time that there has been an attempt to do more with this franchise. Nickelodeon previous considered a spin-off pilot entitled Clarissa Now that featured the title character working for a newspaper company after high school. That’s something that you can see a little bit more of in the video that CartrMatt has for you below. Originally it was paid for by CBS but ended up airing on Nick as a one-off — it’s really just features Clarissa getting her life sucked out of her by some other people within the newspaper business.

As for whether or not reviving this series is really going to work, the one thing that we can say at the moment is that star Melissa Joan Hart is fairly relevant at the moment. After all, one of her other shows in Sabrina, The Teenage Witch is being revived over at Netflix and while she is not involved, we definitely think that this show brings her back into public consciousness. We’re just not sure how much of a long-term play this new Clarissa series will be. Just remember that Girl Meets World, while successful at first, was canceled after only three seasons. Meanwhile, The Jungle Movie didn’t perform as well as we wanted it to.
