NCIS season 15 episode 19 to be different sort of Mark Harmon story

NCIS season 15 episode 19 airing on April 3 could end up being a personal favorite for the entire season. It’s a chance to see something different, and it is also a story that could have connections to Gibbs’ past. If you love Mark Harmon’s work on the show, this should be one worth watching.

“The Numerical Limit” – Gibbs is granted protective custody of a 10-year-old orphaned refugee, Elena (Lily Rose Silver), when an NCIS case reveals she is the target of a violent gang, on NCIS, Tuesday, April 3 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

This is obviously not a place that Gibbs thought he would be at this point in his life, helping to care for a little girl — even if it ends up being temporary. Whether or not it is explicitly addressed remains to be seen, but will this bring Gibbs back to the relationship that he had with his own late daughter Kelly? This is a character who’s been mired in a certain degree of darkness ever since the start of the series, largely because of what happened to the family he once had. He missed an opportunity to raise a daughter into adulthood and many of his subsequent relationships failed to work out in the aftermath of what happened with Kelly and Shannon.

Any chance that NCIS has so many years into its run to give Harmon something a little bit different is worth exploring. Also, it doesn’t really feel like we’ve had all that many Gibbs-focused stories as of late. We understand that given that this is so much more of an ensemble show than it used to be, but a personal story every now and then for the character is still appreciated. It’s also imperative at this point since there are so few original cast members left.

For Lily Rose Silver, this is her first major TV credit — before NCIS, she’s had a few minor roles across various projects.
