The Good Doctor episode 18 (finale) spoilers: It’s all on the line

The Good Doctor episode 18

The Good Doctor episode 18 airing later this month is so much more than just your standard installment of the show.

As you would imagine with this being the final episode of the Season, there’s going to be some serious drama. To go along with that, some characters’ futures could be in huge Jeopardy. Take, for example, Dr. Shaun Murphy as played by Freddie Highmore. By the end of the finale, his job could be on the line. To go along with that, some of his patients may be in jeopardy. How does someone like him recover from a fairly devastating event? We have a pretty good feeling that we’re going to find out as this episode goes along. Before we go any further though, let’s go ahead and share the official The Good Doctor finale synopsis courtesy of ABC:

The team at St. Bonaventure needs to quickly discover the truth behind a young college student’s unexplained injuries before his condition worsens. Meanwhile, after losing his most prized possession, Shaun’s distraction during a surgical procedure may end up risking more than just his job.

One of the things that is cool about the photos that ABC has released is that they show a good bit of Sean interacting with Dr. Aaron Glassman. While Richard Schiff was a major component of the series in the early going, it feels like he has been a little bit more on the back-burner as of late. At someone who loves his character, we don’t love that. This is a relationship that doesn’t need to be shore up more by the end of the season. Glassman is a valuable mentor of Shaun and he’s going to be there for him when he needs them the most. We’ve seen that on a few different occasions already.

Will there be a big cliffhanger moving in season 2? Nothing is altogether certain as of yet, but it definitely seems as though that could be a strong possibility. Why wouldn’t ABC want to do something like that ti further boost interest in what is one of the most successful new shows of the season?

Ultimately we’re not going to be waiting too much longer to figure out what happens in season finale. After all, this is only airing a week from Monday! Why so soon? That’s simply a function of ABC only ordering 18 episodes for this first season. We will see if season 2 ends up producing a much longer order down the road.
