The Fosters series finale air date, first trailer revealed

Just in case you were wondering as to when The Fosters series finale would air following last night’s described “spring finale,” we now come bearing some information!

This morning, Freeform confirmed that the three-night series finale event would begin on Monday, June 4 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time and continue until Wednesday, June 6 at the same time with what is being described as an extended finale event.

As for what the main focus of the finale is, think in terms of Brandon’s wedding to Eliza, who we met at the end of the spring finale. It’s a destination wedding in the Turks and Caicos, which is why so much of the cast recently filmed on-location for the event. Given that Freeform made the decision to end the show recently, we’ll give them some credit for allowing the producers the budget to do something like this.

So what’s actually going to happen during this wedding? That is a great question and there are still many questions out there about it, including potentially if Callie is going to inject herself and cause some problems during it. She has some questions regarding Brandon’s fiancee, especially in terms of her maturity. This is probably going to be a tricky thing for her — regardless of whether or not she has feelings for him in the present (which isn’t 100% clear in the preview below), you can obviously understand why she would have some anxiety giving her stamp of approval to seeing him with someone else. After all, Brandon was one of the first people that she ever loved and seeing him go off and marry someone else is going to be a real struggle for her. We imagine that much of the episode for her will be geared around her trying to process that, while also getting a chance to see what’s going on with her, Jude, Jesus, Stef, Lena, and everyone else in the cast.

The series finale technically is not the end of the story, as there will be some chances to see some of these characters again in the spin-off show being fronted by Maia Mitchell and Cierra Ramirez. This is going to premiere at a date to be determined. Filming has not begun on the project yet, so a debut this summer feels at the moment unlikely.
