The death that rocked The Fosters’ spring finale

Fosters season 5 summer finale

We knew going into The Fosters spring finale that there was going to be a chance something terrible happened — unfortunately, it did in one of the most heartbreaking ways imaginable. (Warning: There are some spoilers ahead — stop reading now if you are not at least halfway through to the second episode tonight.)

We don’t want to beat around the bush too much here — as it turns out, unfortunately Grace didn’t make it. She died after attempting a bold treatment that could’ve potentially changed her entire life. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen and Brandon had to come to grips with the fact that something terribly happened to the woman he loved.

The Fosters chose to honor the Grace character in a number of different ways, and we appreciate that the show gave you a vision of what Grace’s future could have been. While it was heartbreaking, at the same time it did give us a memorable last sight of Meg DeLacy on the series that was not her character dying within a bed. She wanted to have that dream of Coachella and we certainly know that Brandon also wanted that dream with her.

DeLacy is leaving The Fosters pretty close to the series finale of the show, which is going to be airing on Freeform later this summer. There are just three episodes left before the eventually spin-off series debuts; it’s just sad to know that Brandon won’t be ending up with her. That character will eventually move on, but it is going to be difficult given the fact that this character was one of his great loves and he did everything that he could in order to help her. It’s just sad that there wasn’t a way to make it happen.
