When is The Fosters returning to Freeform with final episodes?
At the moment, here is what we know: There are three more episodes of The Fosters that are coming before we get to the spin-off series, which is going to be launching at some point presumably in the next year or so. That show is still at least somewhat far away, given that filming has not actually begun on it yet. These three episodes have filmed, and as of right now we imagine that they are going to premiere at some point in the summer.
Based on the information that is out there, one of the things that we’re going to be seeing from the get-go during these final three episodes is a leap forward. This is something that we saw within the closing minutes of tonight’s episode, as we leapt forward long enough so that Jude was a high school graduate, that Callie was close to becoming a lawyer, and that Mariana and Emma both had a chance to go to school at MIT. They’ve made some of their dreams come true, and Brandon is now engaged to be married! All of this makes for exciting television but we also know that we’re not exactly at the end of the story. We imagine that the stories for some of the supporting characters could be close to wrapped up within these final episodes; if not, there is going to be additional chances in which to touch on them at some point in the spin-off. The doors are already open for all of these characters to come back even when The Fosters itself is over.

We just hope that The Fosters somehow figures out a way to be just as emotional in these final episodes as we saw tonight; tonight’s episode could have actually served as a finale in many ways.
