NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 episode 17 diving into Mosley’s past

NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 episode 17 is airing on CBS come Sunday, April 1 and this episode could be tasked with resolving a mystery that has been hinted at here and there this season: Mosley’s past. What makes this character an interesting one to study is that there have been times throughout where it felt like she was starting to show some vulnerability; yet, the producers have also written her in an adversarial way to the rest of the team. There really hasn’t been all that much Nia Long could do at times to make Mosley more likable just because the construction of the character makes it challenging to be on her side.

Below, the NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 episode 17 synopsis does give you at least a smll sense as to what could be coming up next:

“The Monster” – While investigating a missing person’s case, the team uncovers a killer who puts on shows for high-paying voyeurs. Also, Mosley assigns Callen as her partner on a joint ATF mission to apprehend someone from her past, on NCIS: LOS ANGELES, Sunday, April 1 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

This episode has an opportunity to try and pain this character in a somewhat more sympathetic light. Whether or not they succeed remains to be seen, but it’s pretty darn clear at the moment that the opportunity is going to be here.

Ratings update

Sunday night’s new episode generated just a 0.9 rating in the key 19-48 demographic … so is that a warning sign for the future of the series? It would be understandable if there were some people out there who had a few concerns over it, given that this is not the sort of performance you want from your show at this point in the season. Yet, remember that it did tie for #1 on CBS, and these ratings may have been slightly smaller than unusual given the fact that there were extra viewers checking out the premiere of American Idol who may not opt to do so every other week.

For now, don’t worry too much about the show’s immediate future — if it weren’t for the fact that there were so many struggles with some other CBS shows we’d likely be a little bit more concerned.
