NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 episode 14 review: Was Hetty saved?
As you would imagine, this was no easy task for the team — Sam, Callen, Deeks, and Kensi all went to Vietnam in order to find answers while everyone else was stuck back at home trying to figure it out. There were some VERY funny moments along the way, including us getting a chance to learn a few interesting things about Hetty. Who knew that she was popular enough with the Queen and Prince Philip to receive frequent notes from them?
In the process of the search, we also saw Nell receive a little bit of help from her sister, which in turn led for an exploration into some of their relationship. It was pretty clear that Sydney has a tendency to be cruel and that came through in the conversation that she had with Eric. She was hard on him, and in turn he called her a bully. This, in turn, caused even more problems between Eric and Nell … even if Eric gave her a chance in order for her to speak her mind.

If there was a prevailing issue that we did have through most of this episode, it was simply this: It took a long time to actually get closer to the part of the story where Hetty was actually rescued. We understand that it took a long period of time in order for the characters to get all of the information necessary to track her down, but couldn’t they have done this at least a little it faster?
Also, it was actually surprising easy when the team (which included some of Hetty’s former colleagues like Chegwidden) arrived to the compound. They led a sneak attack at night and there were actually some lighthearted moments (at least until we got to the point where Hetty was tortured by the man with one eye. In the end, Hetty was found and the team can start to make their way back home with her in tow.
CarterMatt Verdict
Despite the somewhat jaunty pace that pervaded most of the episode we did still enjoy NCIS: Los Angeles tonight very much. It resolved the most important story at the heart of the season; with that, hopefully we see the story start to return to normal. Also, seeing Nell and her sister have some heart-to-hearts was something that has been a long time coming with this series.
