Who is leaving Endeavour after season 5 finale?
In a statement (per the Radio Times) confirming the exit of Richards, executive producer Damien Timmer had the following to say:
“This is the end of Trewlove for now – Dakota told us she wanted to leave at the beginning of last year, so we planned series five to give her the arc with Fancy and build to his demise and her leaving.”
As for Peek, the intention there the whole time was for this to be a one-season gig; both actors could return at some point down the line, but it is far too early to speculate on such matters as of now without some additional information getting out there on the subject. The sixth season was only just confirmed a little bit earlier this evening and with that, you at least can rest assured that many of your other favorite characters are going to be back in action before too long.
Over the years Endeavour has quickly found itself a loyal following and is now one of the most-popular series of its kind on ITV. Yet, like so many other British series out there, it is one with a certain degree of flexibility when it comes to some of its cast and how often some of them sign up for roles. These series tend to be a little bit more fluid than their American counterparts, who often lock actors into whopping six-season deals at the start of the entire series.
