TV Madness 2018: Vikings, The Brave square off in round 1
Welcome to another edition of our third annual TV Madness Tournament! This is a fun annual tradition here at CarterMatt where we have some fun, engaging battles between various shows looking to make it all the way to the final round on March 28.
Above, you can see our full bracket, complete with entries, their seeds, and start/end dates. Once you are within the bracket, the dates listed are when the previous poll ends and the next one begins! We’ve got a great group of shows taking part this year, with some newbies as well as others who have been a part of the tournament every single year. The voting rules are pretty simple — you can vote however often you would like on however many devices that you would like! If you are on mobile and you are having a problem seeing the poll at the bottom of the article for whatever reason, be sure to click to view the non-AMP version of the page at the bottom of the article.
The showdown that we’re featuring today is one of the more intriguing ones in the entire first round, given that you are talking about a show like Vikings, a staple of its network clearly not going anywhere in the near future, squaring off against one in The Brave that is on the bubble and its future at NBC could go either way. Who is actually going to move on to the next round, and who is going to find themselves gone from the tournament a little too soon? We’re going to find out here.
With that, let’s get to breaking down these entries further. Voting for this round remains open until Saturday, March 17 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time.
Vikings (#2 seed) – It’s coming off of a great performance in the 2017 iteration of the tournament and it’s certainly every bit as strong now as it was then. Creatively, Vikings already proved that you can lose a major character and be every bit as good as you once were. Commercially, the ratings also remain strong and it’s already a lock to be on the air until 2019. Are its fans going to come around to vote for it in TV Madness this year?
The Brave (#7 seed) – There’s a lot to like about the NBC military drama, which is entering this showdown as the clear underdog. It’s fighting for a spot on the schedule next season, but as of right now there’s not too much that fans can do other than re-watch old episodes, campaign on social media, and wait for the network to make a decision. A strong performance in the tournament is a signal that many big fans of The Brave are still out there.
