Is The Sinner renewed for season 2 by USA?

Is The Sinner renewed for a second season by USA? Based on some of the new information that is out there, it actually seems as though that is the case.

According to a new report from SpoilerTV, the drama series will be back for another installment, and to go along with that it seems as though we are going to continue to see the story of Bill Pullman and his character of Ambrose. In the wake of the Cora Tannetti case, Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) is called back to his hometown in distant rural New York to assess a disturbing new crime: an 11-year-old boy’s horrific double-homicide & his seemingly inexplicable motive.

As Ambrose comes to realize there’s nothing ordinary about the boy or where he came from, his investigation leads him straight into the hidden darkness of his hometown and pitting him against those who’ll stop at nothing to protect its secrets.

Will Jessica Biel return for this season of the series? That at the moment doesn’t seem to be altogether clear. We know that it would be great to see her back on the show for another batch of episodes, but given how Cora and her story ended on the first season, it is a little bit more challenging to bring someone like her back than it is the Ambrose character. (Clearly, the series isn’t going in the anthology direction given that Ambrose is still a part of the story.)

In general, doing another season of a show like this is a risky proposition. The first season was very successful, but it feels like a significant reason for that was that it had a defined beginning, middle, and end. It is going to be a little more challenging to get people invested in a series that has a longer run and no definitive ending. Nonetheless, we will give the show another chance on the basis of just how good the first season was. It certainly does feel as though it is earned that.
