Oscars 2018 In Memoriam honors Jerry Lewis, Don Rickles, and more

Oscars 2018 In Memoriam

The Oscars 2018 In Memoriam was one that we absolutely expected to be dramatic. After all, just consider all of the great people who we ended up losing over the past year. There was ultimately no way in which every single person who we lost to be honored here.

Here, Eddie Vedder led a performance of Tom Petty’s “Room at the Top” as we saw some of the names who were honored for their achievements in film.

The list included June Foray, Walter Lassally, Chuck Berry, Robert Osbourne, Jill Messick, Harry Dean Stanton, Terence Marsh, Rita Riggs, Mary Goldberg, Anthony Harvey, Therese DePrez, Debra Chasnoff, Jonathan Demme, Michael Ballhaus, Joe Hyams, John Heard, Martin Landau, Glenne Headly, Roger Moore, Sam Shepard, Jeanne Moreau, George A. Romero, Rance Howard, Joseph Bologna, Murray Lerner, Don Rickles, Tom Sanders, Jerry Lewis, and more.

We would’ve potentially had even more names, but we experienced some strange technically difficulties during the ABC feed where there were some outage and weird cut-outs in the middle of the segment. So, not only was there an issue tonight in terms of people being left off the list, but there was also an issue of even getting to see all of the list. Strange, but that’s precisely what we had to deal with tonight.

Hopefully, some other people didn’t have any issues — it was a moving segment for what we saw of it, though we would’ve personally enjoyed getting an opportunity to see some more of the actual names and the contributions. For all of the other segments that we saw over time, wouldn’t it have been nice to get to see a little bit more of this segment? We like to think so. Consider this something that the show could change in the future.
