Did Taraji P. Henson shade Ryan Seacrest on E! Oscars red carpet?

Oscars -

Do we have our first shot at Ryan Seacrest on the E! Oscars red carpet, and courtesy of Empire star Taraji P. Henson? At the moment, signs are suggesting that this may be the case.

In the video below, you can see exactly what Henson says as she notes to Seacrest that the universe has a way of taking care of “good people.” Was this meant as shade thrown at him? It’s possible, especially with that hand movement at the end and asking him “you know what I mean?”. That’s the closest thing that we’ve got to proof that shots may have been fired here. Seacrest didn’t really react to it, not that we imagined he would.

No matter, this is the first real instance of someone commenting on it during the red carpet pre-show, which has for the most part been edited down and contains very few notable celebrity interviews. There are some notable names like Henson, but it feels like there’s a whole lot more filling time here than in years past.

Honestly, we’re surprised that E! thought that they could do an interview with Henson that did not have some sort of controversy with it. After all, we are speaking here about someone who has a whole history of expressing herself. She wasn’t going to hold back here, even if she was going to find a way to make her message felt in a relatively quiet way.

We’ll see if this happens with anyone else, but we wouldn’t be shocked. The only issue that may keep us from seeing some of them are some of the reports that are out there that the Oscars are going with a tape delay in order to compensate for potential problems that arise. In other words, they are probably making sure that no one cusses Ryan out.
