Saturday Night Live deleted sketch features Star Wars, many languages
The video below features this said sketched, themed almost entirely around a fairly silly but funny premise: Barkley’s character doesn’t understand what any of the aliens are saying and gets frustrated enough to leave. He only speaks English and assumed that everyone else would do the same — yet, the droid and even the show’s version of a Wookie have their own language and are far more intelligence than Barkley first realized.
This isn’t necessarily the funniest sketch we’ve seen in recent SNL history, but at the same time so much money went into this that it remains shocking that it would end up solely on the internet. Ultimately, we just figure that producers must have figured that they could make it go viral without even including it in the show itself. Barkley is better here than he was in most of the live sketches last night, and it’s certainly a pleasant enough viewing experience overall. It’s not the funniest deleted sketch we’ve ever seen, but it’s probably within the top ten.

Next week, SNL will return with a very ambitious episode hosted by none other than Sterling K. Brown. That is a win for NBC in two different ways — he’s the star of one of their biggest shows in This Is Us and, to go along with that, was also a part of Black Panther. They are able to capture two of the biggest pop-culture things at the same time and hopefully that is going to lead to this show getting some good ratings and inspired comedy.
