Oscars 2018: Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway presenting together (again)

Oscars -

Last year, Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty were the talk of the Oscars … but not for the right reason. The blunder in Best Picture proved to be one of the biggest television movements over the past several years.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dunaway and Beatty are going to be returning to the Academy Awards this year for another go of things. However, there is already some speculation as to just what exactly they are going to be doing. The new THR story suggests that the two parties are going to be presenting Best Picture again; however, there are some other reports out there noting that the two will actually instead be presenting the same award as last year to Moonlight, just so that they can have the Oscar moment that was originally intended.

Personally, we’re a fan more of the former — while Moonlight didn’t get what it deserved, it’s pretty darn hard at this point to walk what happened back. It’s done now, and in some ways, odd as it is, that actually brought the movie so much more coverage than it would have had otherwise. It is, by far, one of the most memorable Oscar moments ever — it’s the sort of thing that will be commemorated in various highlight shows for years.

Also, we do think that bringing back Dunaway and Beatty here is mostly just a symbolic gesture given that they weren’t the two parties really at fault here in the first place. Instead, that seems to be the firm responsible for the results, who screwed up with the envelopes behind the scenes.
