Chicago PD season 5 episode 17 spoilers: Is Woods focusing in on Olinsky?
If Lindsay was still a major part of the show, it feels inevitable that Woods would be breathing down her neck (our expectation is that she will be continue to be mentioned throughout, even if she doesn’t appear). With Sophia Bush’s character gone, signs now point towards Olinsky being one of Woods’ next targets. He understands the friendship that he has with Woods and it’s certainly possible that there could be some mechanism put in place to threaten Olinsky in a particularly terrible way.
Below, the Chicago PD season 5 episode 17 synopsis offers up a little more insight into what is coming up:
03/14/2018 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Wednesday) : When a prominent Alderman known for his urban revitalization efforts is killed, Intelligence looks into the corruption haunting his neighborhood. Meanwhile Olinsky (Elias Koteas) feels pressure after receiving an ultimatum from Woods (guest star Mykelti Williamson).
We’re all about this episode in theory, even if it suggests that some dark times are coming in the direction of Koteas’ character. For starters, Olinsky hasn’t had too many spotlights this season and he deserves more. He is one of the more enigmatic characters on Chicago PD in that he doesn’t really like to wear the hero badge and is fine letting someone else get the attention. It’s worthwhile that we get a chance to check in with him every now and then.

At present, there is also reason to think that Woods is more motivated than ever to try to make a move against some members of the Chicago PD. After all, we are speaking here about someone who just lost his daughter and may, on some level, blame Intelligence for it. That happened before the Olympics but you can’t forget about it.
