Big Little Lies season 2: Iain Armitage to return despite Young Sheldon gig
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Armitage has closed a deal to return to the series alongside Jeffrey Nordling and James Tupper. Yesterday, we reported that Adam Scott would also be reporting.
One of the reasons why there were some questions out there surrounding the return of Armitage is merely due to his busy schedule starring on CBS’ new comedy Young Sheldon. Yet, we imagine that there may have also been an interest on his part in coming back to the show that first allowed him an opportunity to burst onto the scene. The scheduling also ended up working out well, given the fact that Young Sheldon will be over for the season at the time in which Big Little Lies starts up. Meanwhile, most of his work can be completed before Young Sheldon returns for more filming in the summer. In between doing these two shows as well as schoolwork, you have to figure that he is one of the busiest working young actors out there at the moment.
While it’s been great to hear that so many familiar faces are returning to Big Little Lies, it’s somewhat of a surprise that there haven’t been too many newcomers officially cast — or at least announced to be a part of the show. The one that has been, though, is certainly the biggest name: Screen icon Meryl Streep, who is going to be coming on the show in the role of Perry’s mother. Alexander Skarsgard is also slated to have some sort of a presence, even though his character was killed off at the end of season 2.
Big Little Lies season 2 will more than likely premiere at some point in 2019 — if that changes, we will certainly let you know.
As always, we welcome some of your thoughts about this latest round of casting news in the comments!
