This Is Us season 2 finale: Will there be a bit of a twist?

Is there going to be something dramatic happening in the This Is Us season 2 finale? Just by the nature of the show itself, you would probably expect for there to be something in that department.

What we know about the finale at the moment is reasonably scant — the biggest teaser that is out there is that there will be some sort of a twist according to what Chrissy Metz had to say to Entertainment Weekly. As for what this twist is, that’s to be seen.

In general, the writers are keeping things fairly close to the vest for this final episode other than making one thing clear: Kate’s wedding to Toby is going to be a huge part of the episode. That shouldn’t be all that much of a surprise given the fact that the story is building towards that, but it doesn’t feel like there is some sort of fake-out coming in that department. This hardly means that there will be an easy, relaxing ceremony, though — this is a show that has a tendency to create a wide array of different twists and turns.

In general, season 2 of This Is Us has put its characters through so much that it feels like now would be the right time to let off of the gas a little bit. It is still valuable to remind viewers that this is a show about family and celebrating some of the happier moments in characters’ lives. It’s not just exclusively one about watching varying degrees of pain and suffering. We do think that with Jack’s death this season in general it’s a little bit easy to become completely overwhelmed by that and forget almost everything else..
