Black Lightning episode 7 preview: The hunt for Tobias Whale

When Black Lightning episode 7 ends up airing on The CW next week, one of the things that you’re going to have a chance to see is rather clear: A search like no other for one Tobias Whale. This character is the Big Bad of the season right now — he’s relentless, dangerous, and it’s not entirely clear just how to take him down for good. The best thing that Jeff / Black Lightning can do is continue the hunt for him and hope to make some headway.

Black Lightning’s (Cress Williams) pursuit for Tobias (Marvin Jones III) continues. Anissa (Nafessa Williams) continues to find herself in the new normal.  China Anne McClain, Christine Adams, Damon Gupton and James Remar also star.  The episode was written by Lamont Magee and directed Billy Woodruff (#107).  Original airdate 3/6/2018.

This episode is coming around about the midway point in the season, and with that it feels like this upcoming episode could be somewhat of a game-changer. We feel like we are at the moment now where there will be some major movement in the Tobias Whale story and there also needs to be to keep the momentum going from the pilot. While Black Lightning does continue to liver, talk has cooled somewhat since the pilot first aired. You can see that somewhat in the ratings, given that this past episode fell to a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic — that’s still a pretty solid performance, but it is down slightly from how the show performed on The CW in the weeks in the past. (For now, there is still a reason for confidence in the series’ future.)
