Poldark season 4 spoilers: Eleanor Tomlinson on change in power structure
It’s hard to confirm what sort of conversations Ross and Demelza have at the start of season 4 in the aftermath of everything with Hugh Armitage; yet, Eleanor Tomlinson suggests strongly to the Radio Times that Ross will have to get used to the idea of his wife becoming more empowered and in charge than ever before:
“Demelza becomes more independent, because Ross goes off to London and she very much becomes the boss of Nampara … That is her power – she and Ross are on an equal level and I wonder how he will respond to that.”
This is something that is needed both for Demelza and the relationship’s future — he has to understand that they are two valuable cogs of equal measure, and without her his family wouldn’t function. He relies on her, and he needs to figure out how to do that emotionally to go along with how much he relies on her in terms of day-to-day responsibilities at home.
