Law & Order: SVU season 19 episode 14 sneak peek: A complicated murder

Law & Order: SVU season 19 episode 14 is a fantastic episode of TV. We don’t want to say too much about it now, but it’s another great Mariska Hargitay performance that is brought on in part because of major drama revolving around Benson and Brian Cassidy, who finds himself in hot water after his temper gets the best of him in the midst of a case.

As previously reported, Cassidy starts to spiral in the aftermath of a mistrial just because he is the person responsible for that happening. To make matters worse, the person who the SVU team was trying to convict was a Dr. Larry Nassar type in Dr. West, who was previously tried with sexually abusing young children. Cassidy is going to be overwhelmed with rage and guilt over what happened — so, when the doctor turns up dead, it makes sense that he would be pinpointed as the #1 suspect.

The sneak peek SpoilerTV, is really all about the discovery of the body. Within this preview you get a clear sense that nobody is altogether sad to see Dr. West go — he is a monster, after all — but that doesn’t change the fact that murder is murder. There still needs to be an investigation and the responsible party still does need to be brought to justice.

If there is one obvious loophole for Cassidy within this case, it is most likely the fact that there are countless other suspects in this man’s death. Given how many children Dr. West traumatized, it makes sense that many parents could be even more incentivized to commit murder than Cassidy was. He may have taken a hit when it comes to his career over causing the mistrial, but he was not the parent of abuse.

We’re not going to say that Cassidy is the most likable character in the history of Law & Order: SVU, but one of the things that is great about getting Dean Winters back on the show is that he brings the best out of the actors around him. The performances within “Chasing Demons” are pretty top-notch across the board.
